Volunteers Needed for Medical Reserve Corps

Volunteers Needed for Medical Reserve CorpsBINGHAMTON, NY - The Broome County Health Department is continuing to recruit volunteers for the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). These volunteers would be called upon to assist the health department and local hospitals with surge capacity needs should the healthcare system be overwhelmed by a natural or man-made event.

Volunteers from both medical and non-medical disciplines are needed. MRC volunteers include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, epidemiologists, interpreters, chaplains, office workers, and others. The roles volunteers may be called upon to fill will depend on the type of response that's required to preserve and protect the health and wellbeing of the people in our community.

Anyone interested in becoming an MRC volunteer is invited to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, March 5th, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Broome County Health Department, 225 Front Street, Binghamton, NY. Refreshments will be provided.

Additional information on the MRC can be found on the Broome County Health Department webpage at www.gobroomecounty.com/hd/HaSMRC.php.
