Broome County Health Department to Offer Emergency & Disaster Preparedness Programs
BINGHAMTON, NY - The Broome County Health Department is pleased to announce a preliminary schedule of presentations on emergency & disaster preparedness as part of their Vulnerable Populations Preparedness Outreach Project (VPPOP). The program is being funded through a grant from the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) and is designed to reach out to our community's elderly and special needs populations.
Health department officials will present for 20-30 minutes outlining the possible types of emergencies that our community may face, from natural disasters to bioterrorism to pandemic influenza and what individuals can do to prepare for them. Information on preparing individual or family Emergency “Go” Kits will also be provided. Pre-made kits will be raffled off at each presentation.
