National Double Dutch League to Perform

16th Annual STOP-DWI Holiday ClassicBINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Jumpers, a local Double Dutch team, along with local elected officials, City of Binghamton Youth Director, members of the Urban League, and the organizers of the STOP-DWI tournament hosted a morning news conference to highlight tomorrow's Double Dutch performance before the STOP-DWI skills competition. The National Double Dutch League from New York City will perform from 2PM until 3:45PM tomorrow at Binghamton High School. Admission for the skills competition and Double Dutch performance is $2.

“Broome County's STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is a premier basketball tournament and the Double Dutch Exhibition is another addition to help draw attention to the important message behind it all,” said Barbara Fiala, Broome County Executive. “I again want to express my thanks to STOP-DWI coordinator Jim May and the sponsors and organizers that make this event such a success.”

Broome County will be providing free transportation for local students to the STOP-DWI events. Students must show a valid high school ID to ride BC Transit at no cost.

The 16th Annual STOP-DWI Holiday Classic features an eight team national division and two four team regional divisions. Tournament action begins on December 28th at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Each year the tournament is held during high school winter break, which has assisted drawing high caliber teams from around the nation to participate.
