You have landed at the Greater Binghamton Airport
For airports across the Northeast, the chill of the soon-to-be-arriving fall season means winter time planning is in full swing. Snow plows are readied, materials are purchased and winter coats are dusted off. Wintertime is when an airport's #1 priority - passenger safety - is brought to an even higher plateau and the BGM staff's performance is second to none.
This year, work began on a new project that will have a lasting effect, especially in the wintertime, on passenger safety and passenger comfort at the Greater Binghamton Airport. Recently, design work has been completed on the purchase and installation of four passenger boarding bridges. These boarding bridges, similar to the "Jet Ways" found at larger facilities, are manufactured to work with the types of commercial aircraft operated by the four airlines serving our airport. Walking through this completely enclosed walkway, you will no longer have to endure the snow and bone chilling winds we are faced often with during the wintertime months. So look for it soon - a comfortable trek to your aircraft awaits you. Lastly, the Greater Binghamton Airport would like to thank the travelers of our region for making July 2003 our best month of passenger boardings in nearly five years. To be exact - since October 1998. In July of 2003, 12,637 people flew from BGM, which is a 13.6% increase from July of 2003 and places BGM 7.7% higher than year-to-date figures at the same time in 2002. As a point of reference, this accomplishment occurred at time when nationwide passenger traffic is down 3.6% overall. Thanks again for using BGM now and in the future. Enjoy the newsletter . . .
