In addition to thoughts of warmer Spring-like Weather, the beginning of March has brought with it new upgraded jet service provided by Northwest Airlines from BGM to its WorldGateway Hub in Detroit. Effective March 2, 2003, Northwest Airlines replaced two of their four 34-passenger Saab 340 turbo-prop airplanes with new 50-passenger Canadair Regional Jets, which are widely known by the acronym, CRJ. On the flights operated with the CRJ, in-air flight times are decreased by nearly 30% making access to the 130 destinations offered from Detroit even more convenient.

With the commencement of this air service upgrade, the airlines serving the Greater Binghamton Airport now offer a total of 44 flights per day - and 1/3 of these flights are operated on jet aircraft. The Greater Binghamton Airport offers service from 4 of the nation's 6 largest airlines providing convenient service to most domestic and international destinations.
